Rizzi Fresh Italia: production of baby leaf in high tunnels for the Fresh-Cut Industry

Rizzi Fresh Italia,
a decade-long tradition in the cultivation of salads.

Including Italy’s perfect Mediterranean climate.

In the wake of our farming successes in Spain, we decided to replicate the project in Italy.

We set up exclusive partnerships with local producers and created a team of experts with long-standing expertise in agronomy. This is how we were able to control and manage the entire production chain, from sowing to harvest and all the way through to storage and logistics.

We chose the Sele plain near Salerno as the ideal growing area for our baby leaf production, given this area’s long tradition in growing these types of salads. In this case, we rely on protected cultivation methods (high tunnels).

In recent years we have extended our cultivation areas, entered into new partnerships with local producers and added new Italian regions where we not only grow baby leaf but also lamb’s lettuce and lettuce, on a total of 500 hectares of open fields and in 250 hectares of high tunnels. This guarantees a higher level of safety for us and for our customers and makes us independent of the seasons and of weather conditions.

Overview of our cultivation areas:

  • Campania: baby leaf
  • Puglia: lettuce
  • Lombardy: lamb’s lettuce and baby leaf
  • Abruzzo: summer production of lettuce
  • Marche: lettuce
